H2H Sketch Challenge {"cap" it off with some metal!}

It's a sketch challenge this week on Heart 2 Heart. But, there's a "twist"!! Add some metal on your project. Woo hoo! That sounds like fun!


Here is the sketch. As you can see I have turned it 90 degrees to fit my sentiment.


So many favorite new products on this card! The first item is the Cruisin' papers. A little bit masculine, but so cool and graphic! Another fave is the bottle cap. You'll see a little pic below on how I added it to my card. Lastly, the grey twine. Twine is all the trend and I'm thrilled that Close To My Heart has it. I hope they will carry it in more colors in the future! I've also brought in some oldies but goodies with a swirly stamp from Enjoy Life and a sentiment from Card Chatter Birthday. Along with the bottle cap as my "metal" item, I've also added some silver brads.

To get a secure placement on my card, I used layers of 3D foam tape under my bottle cap. It's not going anywhere! Ha, Ha!

Cap Magnets

I am continuing my "Giving Back Week" with another project for the local elementary school Santa Christmas shop. These are what I call Cap Magnets. I have been saving bottle caps for some time now. I simply spray paint them in black then decorate the inside with coordinating papers and stamped sentiments. They'll make a great gift to attach the kids pictures, artwork and those A+ report cards on the fridge!




I created an everyday and Holiday version.

Summer Reading Chart

I've struggled every summer to find ways to get my kids to read. They are not big fans of reading and don't want summer break to feel like school! So this year I've come up with a reading chart.

It's made from a cookie sheet, bottle caps and some fabulous Close To My Heart papers and embellishments. Here is what the chart looks like before they start reading. The bottle caps are magnetized to the side handles of the sheet. Once they read for 20 minutes they get to move their bottle cap into the space under their name.


Here you can see that the bottle caps have been moved. I had each child write a list of rewards they would like to receive once reaching their goals. {total of 5 bottle caps must be on the board for the reward} They range from a pack of gum, candy, soda or an energy drink.

My son mostly enjoys reading on the Internet. He is always interested in different countries or does research on military and guns. My daughter has enjoyed reading some older favorite books. She cracks me up though. She loves to hula~hoop while she reads! She can exercise her body and her brain, BRILLIANT!

Bottle Cap Christmas Countdown

I'm so excited to share this Christmas countdown with you. I have some cookie sheets from previous projects that I needed to use up and it also incorporates recycling which I love! Plus, it's a great way to get your husband to help with your craft projects. Their part is really quite simple, "Drink up hunny, I need your bottle cap!" Ha, Ha!

Supplies:

Cookie sheet

25 bottle caps

Black spray paint

Round magnets

B&T papers (I used Jingle, Topstitch, Mistletoe, Key to my Heart, Cherry-0)

Alphabet stamp with numbers (Delightful Alpha, Friendship Alpha)

Holiday stamps to decorate (Share the Magic, Just for the Holidays)

Ribbon (Heavenly Blue)

Button (Olive)

Stickease if desired (Jingle)
