More of So Much Happy

Sometimes when I get out a paper collection, I just sort-of get on a role! After creating a scrapbook layout, I kept making beautiful things with this cute collection. My next endeavor were some more cards using more of those adorable Complements, cut-apart pieces and lovely papers.

This first card is kind-a cute and the second card is for a kind friend! Don't you just love this bird hitching a ride on this stretched out pooch. I just tied a balloon on and set them in some thin-cut grass! Any animal lover will appreciate receiving this card on their "Bird-day"!

As if this floral paper in the collection wasn't enough, I've added a bold yellow sentiment from the cut-apart papers. It is centered on an embossed circle and raised up on 3D foam. The 'friend' sentiment comes from the itty bitty alphabet stickers on the Complements sheet. Super simple to add just about any sentiment you wish. Instead of 'friend' I could have said 'nose picker'. It makes me think of that old saying, "You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends, but you can't pick your friends' nose!" or Something like that!

Hope you liked these cards and had a laugh! Hope your day is filled with So Much Happy!

So Much Happy Plants and Flowers

The cut-apart paper and Complements from the So Much Happy collection are irresistibly cute. Some of the images and sentiments I used on a scrapbook layout that I posted earlier. I felt that some other images would work better for a greeting card.

I especially liked the little flower pitcher and the big leafed plant. Take a look at my simple creations.

For both of these cards I used some really old PML cards that have been in a craft organizer for some time now. I have a new thing for a pop of bright green and turquoise on a base of black and white. Especially black and white dots! To spruce up the pant I added a little mint shimmer to the blue areas. The sentiment is one of my favorites; an older stamp set, but a keeper!

This card uses an older PML card also, but I added in a piece of peach cardstock that has been cut using the fancy tags thin cuts. I gives the card a feeling of the pitcher sitting atop a table.

Both cards are very simple which allows the Complement pieces to be the star of the card! This collection will be available until the end of April. Thanks for stopping by!

Finally Friday and a Freebie

Hello and happy Friday friends! It's been awhile since I posted and for good reason. You may recall in my last post that I was eagerly anticipating the graduation of my son from Marine Corps Boot Camp. It was an exciting time and I was thrilled to see him again and share in his accomplishment with family and friends.

I took lots of photo's and now I'm in the process of documenting the experience. In this first layout I captured our first day to arrive in San Diego. We traveled with our own little crew and made a fun day after hours of driving in a car. We played on the beach and had some delicious tacos.

The layout design came from a free pattern shared on the Make it From Your Heart Blog. You can get the printable design for your self. Mix it up with any papers you desire, I used the So Much Happy papers and embellishments from both the cut-apart paper and Complements. Here is what the layout looks like before adding pictures. {I flipped the photo's on the right page to be horizontal rather than vertical.}

Don't be afraid to cut-apart sentiments even further to curve it around your cut circle. You can also bend your border stamps to outline the circular shape!

Be sure to visit the CTMH Blog for your free pattern. It is lots of fun to create!

Waiting for the Mail

In today's age of technology we can get in touch with our friends and family in an instant. Imagine waiting on the mail to communicate with your loved ones! That has been my experience for the past 12 weeks. My son departed for Marine Boot Camp the week before Christmas. He left his cell phone at home and we knew to expect only one phone call from here to notify us that he arrived at base safely. From then on we could only communicate through "snail mail". Can you remember the last time that you had to wait on a letter to arrive in your mailbox? It has been difficult, but I never have been so excited to get the mail!

To capture this moment I made a pocket scrapbook layout similar to the ones I make every year for the Christmas cards I received. This layout will hold the letters that he sent us throughout the several weeks that he has been gone. We are officially only a week away to seeing his face again and giving him a great big hug!

You will recognize some of the embellishments from some leftovers I had from the Craft with Heart layout from January. I also used some border stamps and the Erin's Hand alphabet stamp.

Be sure to preserve those treasured memories whether its your favorite photos or the long-awaited letter in the mail! Thanks for stopping by!

Quilting Beyond Cards

We had fun creating some cards this past Friday using the Stitching Thin Cuts. The possibilities of shapes, papers and colors can be creative and experimental. Why not go beyond just a greeting card? Think bigger like a scrapbook layout!

Here is a single page layout I created using one of the chevron shapes in a variety of new and retired papers. It was fun to experiment with the different patterns, colors and overall design of the page. This is a page for my son who will be graduating soon from the U.S. Marine Corps Boot Camp. This is the last picture we took together and just the beginning of a very big, life altering experience for both of us!!

I would also like to mention that the title for my page actually came from the Craft With Heart subscription layout for the month of January. I had a hard time seeing any recent photo's of mine fitting with the theme as it is, so I altered it for my own personal purpose.

I hope you can see how the faux quilting can be used for not only cards, but can expand to your bigger scrapbooking layouts. When these Thin Cuts become available again, I recommend you add them to your cart a.s.a.p.!

Faux Quilting

I knew I wanted the Stitched Quilt Thin Cut Shapes the moment I saw them in the new book. Evidently, so did everyone else as they sold out and may not be available until the end of March! However, my ladies will get the chance to still play with these dies and make a few cute cards that are quilted with love!

Here is a close-up of the dies and a couple of cards I made. You can see that there are a few shapes that you get on one magnetic sheet. The possiblities are vast, not only for cardmaking, but for your scrapbook pages too! I will be back soon to show a layout I created using the die cuts.

Please check back on my website late March for the availability of these dies. You will want these in your stash!

Heart Happy Cards

I have been inspired by some of the artwork on the internet using the Heart Happy papers in the current monthly special. I posted about the promotion earlier and would like to remind you to log onto my website to see all the purchasing options available to you. The papers are the cutest collection of bold colors and great coordinating patterns. Here are a few cards that were inspired by other artists.

I used pieces from the cut-apart paper on each of the cards. These are images that need to be fussy cut and can be placed on anything from cards to scrapbook pages. I also used a variety of stamp sets and some thin cuts, including the newest quilting thin cuts. Lots of faux sewing!

You can get an entire kit with everything you need to make the downloadable workshop found online! Be sure to check it out!
