Old is New for H2H

It's a new year and all new challenges at Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog. They are kicking off the year with an Old is New challenge. I think the majority of us can admit to hoarding certain products in our stash. This is a great challenge to bring those stamps or papers back into the light and get some use out of them!

I saved my project to post today, because I feel it's perfect for a Throw Back Thursday! My old item is the You Rock papers and Rockin' Top Coats. Do you remember this collection? I had to look back through old Idea Books to recall when it was first released. Can you believe it was in the Spring 2010 book! That's 5 years ago now, yikes! I made it new again with a fresh, awesome You're the Bomb stamp set!

Bon Jovi, You Rock!

This month is National Scrapbooking Month and I told myself that I must get my scrapbooking all caught up. However, these pages were not for me, rather they are for my sis-in-law. Back in March we had our big concert night and saw Bon Jovi, her favorite! She is also my daughter's God Mother and each year I try to create something special for her on Mother's Day! She doesn't get much time to scrapbook her own pages so when she saw these she was thrilled.

I used papers from the You Rock packet, Hope for Japan stamp set and my favorite chipboard irresistibles for the title.

August Back 2 Basics

This month for my Back 2 Basics Club they were given a choice between watermelons and school. The reason was actually because some of the ladies have children in school and some do not.

The watermelon pages were inspired from the last days of summer, sun and fresh air. I used bright colors and lots of fun details. Once I completed the pages I realized that maybe they aren't very 'basic' either. The ladies will random stamp, blend chalk, faux stitch, create scallops using watermelons, distress paper and layer ribbon.

The other choice was a rockin' Back to School layout. This pattern was taken from the newest how-to-book called Magic. The pattern is called Spellbound and will give the ladies the option of just a few pics or as many as 8. In the Magic book it also shows how to create a sliding photo on the right side of the page. Once I snap my pictures and complete my page I'll post the results here.

Graduation Cards

It's that time of year! Here are a couple of money holder graduation cards. Both are done with "You Rock" papers, but one is more masculine while the other is feminine. They are a lot of fun and I think its pretty cool to graduate in the year 2010!!

Rock Star Banner

My son celebrates his Birthday today. He is my Rock Star and all around awesome kid. I wanted to surprise him when he got home from school today, so in a hurry I made this banner to hang directly in his view upon entering the house. I literally had an hour to create it before I had to head off to work. {I have a witness to the madness if you don't believe it} I made the tags look like tickets. My son is a big Killers fan and really into his music. He can't wait to spend his money on i-tunes.

The tags measure 4x6 and made from white daisy cardstock. I then covered them with You Rock B&T pattern paper. I used a circle punch to cut the corners off each of them. I used Star Power stamp set to stamp the guitar in mixed colors, then embossed it again in black and cut it out. All the letters, from Rustic Alphabet, were also embossed in black. I mounted them on colored cardstock to coordinate with the pattern paper and attached to the tag. I then punched 2 holes in the tops of each and ran white string through the holes. To keep the tags from sliding around I glued some thick orange ribbon to the tops of the tag, pleated it and stapled it to secure. I added the "you" to the top of the guitar using Cocktail Alphabet.

His response to it when I got home was: "That's really cool Mom, you were thinking about me today". "I think about you everyday" I told him. We'll complete our evening with his choice of Cheesy Chili Dogs and a tower of Fudge Brownies with a candle on top!!! Total Teenager!

Flippin' Rock Star Pages

March club pages are totally rockin'! I love these new papers from the Spring Idea Book, probably because they are my favorite colors. I'm a big fan of the fall season and these colors come from the Autumn collections. There is lots of sanding and distressing on these pages, but the WOW factor is that huge 9x9 flip-up page. I saw the idea last year on Tresa Black's blog and absolutely loved that I could fit lots of photo's on one layout. {She was also the big winner of Close To My Heart's Clearly the Best Video Contest, check it out, so funny!}

This is what the ladies will be creating. It's just a base to add their own photo's and more embellishments. The possibilities are endless and the photo arrangements can vary widely.

Here is the 9x9 page protector flipped up. Inside is a 9x9 simply snapshot. Nothing is faster or simpler than that!!

I've completed my pages with some Disneyland photo's. This should give the ladies lots of ideas to use on their own pages.

Inside the flap I focused all of my photo's on the Disney parade. I got a total of 8 photo's just in this section, but as you can see they are not busy and your eye moves across all the pics well.

I used a little "adventure" tag with a clip to show where the page is lifted from. I also went for a big bold title with lots of color to match the page.

These Lots of Dots are amazing. You simply sponge them with ink while they are still on the carrier sheet. The tiny dots resist the ink and in no time at all your peeling them off the sheet and placing them on your project. So fast and easy and they look great!

Another fun addition to my pages are the Rockin' Top Coats. Again, these are so easy to use. You'll need to peel away a thin coating from the image. Then, I used just a dab of liquid glass here and there to adhere it to my page. Finally I inserted a few brads in the center of the stars to add security and dress it up a bit more. They are fantastic and the perfect companion to these papers.

Rock Star Celebration

We celebrated some Birthday's this weekend that totally ROCKED! Here are a couple of the cards I made for the "Rock Stars" that were partying this weekend. Both use the Star Power stamp set and the You Rock level 2 papers {CTMH}. Look for the skulls in the first one, they were embossed using the Cuttle Bug.
