Card Lifted!

My favorite book right now is the Originals Card Confidence Program from the founder of Close To My Heart. It is a brand new item in the 2008 Autumn/Winter Idea Book and the quality of this book is fabulous. I can guarantee you that this book will be my "go to" book for tons of inspiration. One of my first challenges was to re-create the card on the cover thanks to my sis-in-law. Not having those My Acrylix stamps was really the challenge, but I had a hunch that a similar Stamp of the Month from awhile back would do the trick. I also don't sew, but I know how to stamp some stitches and add the tiny holes with a piercing tool! I thought it worked great, and it truly is a beautiful card as is the book.

Monkey Around

I made this card some time ago, and wanted to post it. It features the monkey's from the Life's a Jungle stamp set and the Silhouette papers. It turned out to be a great combination and totally worked for the little guy who received it. In the background of the card are more monkey's that I stamped and cut out, then glued to a plain black gift bag so everything would coordinate. Talk about a complete package!

Back to School

The kids are back in school! They were so ready to get back to learning and seeing old friends. My daughter and I were so thrilled to find out that she got the teacher we wanted. She is super sweet and will push her students to do their very best. We wanted to make her something fun for the first day of school and so why not "chocolate"! Besides, I happen to know that she scrapbooks in her spare time and would appreciate the humor in this simple project.

Beachy Bag Album

Paper Bag Albums have been around for some time now, but they are so much fun to create.
My monthly club will be making this one in September. I thought it would be our last "hoorah" to summer! I kept the book very simple using only 2 paper bags folded in half. It features 3 pages and incorporates 2 pull out tabs for more photo possibilities. I kept the colors cool and soft with Close To My Heart inks and watercolor pencils in Bamboo, Buttercup, Colonial White, Desert Sand, Heavenly Blue and Twilight. I used several My Acrylix Stamps: Daydream, Footprints, Paradise, Do Nothing, and Weathered Backgrounds. I also gave the ocean a crest with the Liquid Applique'. Close To My Heart twill ribbon and craft buttons provided the finishing touch.

No Lion

This is a Birthday card I made for my brother. I have seen the idea of using Sassy Strands for the mane of the lion, so thought I would give it a try. It sure makes him look cute!

My First Blogspot Entry!

Here it is, my first entry. Please be patient with me as I am totally new to this "blogging" thing!
I hope that you will visit often to see my new creations. My first post is a simple card I made for a friend of mine. So often I am creating cards and such and giving them away only to be seen by the recipient. Now I make sure to snap a photo of the project to share with you and to keep for myself, so that I do not duplicate any works of art. All the products used on this card are from Close To My Heart (stamps: make a wish, blooming flourishes; cardstock and inks: garden green, lilac mist, taffy; bigger brads; white daisy ribbon)
Please stay tuned as I will be posting as often as I can!
