Flowers in a Boot

Hello! I have a sweet card to share with you today! I held an Open House this morning to celebrate the new 2016-17 Annual Inspirations Idea Book. We looked at some fabulous new products and flipped through the pages of inspiration. Then we really had some fun by playing with a few of the new items. My card design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches this week, however the flowers and colors were inspired by some Sea Glass iced cupcakes and Ikea napkins! {what?}

Curious about the new products we got to work with? We had fun trying out some flower cuts from the newest Cricut cartridge Flower Market. They looked adorable in that Sea Glass rain boot also from the Flower Market cartridge. We used some older, almost retired Calypso paper and some new Rustic Home Fundamentals paper. For our sentiment we quickly and easily added a Thin Cuts thanks and simple stamped sentiment from one of the stamps included in the Cricut Flower Market collection.

New Home Calypso Cards

I love making card ensembles and packaging them up in a coordinating box. This ensemble is a gift for some friends that recently moved into a new home. I decided to use the Calypso paper with the pineapple image as it is a symbol of hospitality and welcoming. The couple can use these cards to send their new address to friends and family.

The pineapple on the front of the box is a Stickease from the Calypso collection, but the pineapples on the cards were cut from the Cricut Artistry collection. The sentiments are from an older stamp set no longer available.

Calypso Popsicle

Today I am playing along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. The side layers in this sketch were just calling for the fun colors and patterns of Calypso papers. Adding a popsicle with sprinkles as the focus made it extra yummy! What says summer more than that!

 Where is this cute popsicle from? It is actually one of the stickers included in the Calypso Complements. It doesn't get more simple than splashing a few stamps on the background and popping a popsicle in the center! Whether it's ice cream or fabulous scrapbooking products..."too much of a good thing can be {and is} wonderful".

Calypso Van and First Flash Sale

Did you take a look at the Stamp of the Month yet? It really is adorable and perfect for those summer road trips! When I started playing with the little van it reminded me of the iconic VW van of course. I immediately think of our visits to the beach towns along the California coast. I love to look at the old vans that are rusted out and the freshly restored ones decked out with a couple of surf boards. For this card I wanted the fun and freedom of the cute little van to come out. Calypso was the perfect paper to make this card with that hippie, laid back feeling! The "way awesome" sentiment really helps capture the feeling also. You can find more awesome sentiments on the Beyond Awesome stamp set in the newest SE2 Idea Book. The Long Way Home stamp set however, is only available at a discounted price for the month of June only. I am also entering this in Heart 2 Heart Challenges this week for their "Vintage" theme. What's more vintage that an old VW van!??

Hello Calypso

The new Calypso paper is a happy, colorful collection of flamingo's and pineapples. This paper has a playful combination of bright colors with a black and white base. The images will certainly make you feel like a warm summer day! Take a look at a layout I created with these papers anticipating the upcoming summer break! {Only a few days away....I'm counting down the days!!}

 

  

On this layout I used a combination of the Calypso papers and the coordinating complements. I also added some stamp sets for the "hello" title, journaling lines and ink splatters. My favorite accessory has to be the flamingo Washi tape though, it's adorable!

Life in Pictures stamp set is fun for all types of projects. Here are a few more ideas for you!

You may remember when I used this triangle overlay for another card with Regatta papers and a boat image. I changed up the papers and added one of the vintage camera images from the Stamp of the Month. I placed the overlay on kraft cardstock which gives it more depth.

At a recent sneak peek of the new Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea book, I created a similar project for the ladies to make.

This time I placed the overlay on sturdy chipboard. The ladies picked from an assortment of patterned paper triangles from the brand new paper collections; Florence, Magical and Calypso. They mixed the colors randomly then adhered them. We finished the project with some white & gold ribbon so they could hang their signs on the doors to their craft spaces so that when others entered they would know they are entering the room of the Scrapbook Queens!

You will see more of these new papers and fabulous stamp set on May 1st when the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book releases. However, If you wish to get the Life in Pictures Stamp of the Month you must make your purchase before the end of April.

Make me Smile with SOTM

You will be smiling too when you get to play with April's Stamp of the Month! I shared with you a photo booth perfect layout using the stamp set and a card with the polaroid picture frame. Today I'd like to share a card that uses one of the cool camera's on it. I can't honestly say that I've never seen one of these camera's in person, but I find it to be unique!
