Base & Bling Ideas

Base & Bling was first introduced in the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book. Close To My Heart has continued the Base & Bling fashion line and has added many more fabulous products to this collection. You can click on the Idea Book link in the right hand column or click here to see them all, but I would like to show you a few I created for my Open House.

This first item is just a necklace. I actually wore it to work today, which is what reminded me that I never posted about it!! It is fairly basic and does not require to many extra's, but I think that it still looks stunning and believe that some projects should just be easy and quick!

Your Base & Bling creations don't only have to be necklaces! I purchased a pack of these rings very inexpensively and made this key ring. No more boring keys!!

Finally, I'd like to share the new oval cuff. Simply add a style sheet image of your choice and adhere an oval glass cover. This is a stunning addition to your jewelry collection as is or you can fancy it up with charms and ribbon.

Whether you choose a necklace, key ring or bracelet; any Base & Bling creation will be "Awesome"!

If you are interested in coming to a Base & Bling Buffet let me know! You can explore the wonderful products this collection has to offer and create an entire project or two while hanging out! Not a bad way to get a head start on Christmas gifts either!! Contact me for more information!

Twilight & Johnny Bracelets

For all of you Twilight fans and those that really admire Johnny Depp {like me *grin*} I have a treat for you today!! I finally got around to this project. I saw a video making dog tags and using resin from the fabulously creative Tresa Black. I suppose the hold up was just being scared of using resin. It's not so bad, I think I've got the hang of it and ready to go wild with it on more projects!! I knew I wanted to create a bracelet and found these at Hobby Lobby from the Jewelry Shoppe Findings. The trickiest part was finding the images me and my daughter wanted and then figuring out how to print them super small. Once that was done and they all fit in their squares I secured them with a little liquid glass. After mixing the resin and pouring into each compartment they rested for about 24 hours. My daughter chose to do characters from Twilight. It might end up in my jewelry box from time to time ; )

My daughter was being my little wrist model. Thank you sweetie!

My bracelet was a no brainer. I'm not at all obsessed with Johnny, I just really admire his acting abilities!!! Ha, Ha, Ha, Whatever! I went back to some early days of Edward Scissorhands, included Sweeney Todd, Willie Wonka, Mad Hatter and my very fave character Captain Jack Sparrow! Oh, I shall wear it proudly!

Fabric Singed Flowers

Yesterday I shared with you the fun beaded necklaces that my daughter and I made. Well, today is Mom's turn to play. This is certainly more "grown up" jewelry. However, I can guarantee you that my daughter will be begging and batting her lashes to borrow them!

The fabulous Close To My Heart consultant Tresa Black shared this craft on her U-Stream class a few weeks ago. You can see the tutorial here. I'll admit that I was a bit intimidated at first and thought...."I'll never be able to do that". I was a good student though and really paid attention and now I want to make more in every color I can find!!

The first one is similar to the colors Tresa used. I stamped black Staz On ink on a light gray satin fabric. She made her flower a bracelet, but I chose to make mine a necklace. I'll be able to wear this with several outfits.

The gold flower came about from my daughter's left over school project. I did not stamp on the fabric at all and just singed them to create the petals. The best surprise was to discover that as the edges singed it turned a toasty color giving the entire flower more dimension and interest. I created a bracelet for it to rest upon. The colors of gold and cream will look gorgeous with those Holiday outfits.

Here my daughter is modeling it. It does not look nearly as large on my wrist, but with a stretchy band her or I can wear it comfortably.

Paper Beaded Bracelet

Here is a fun gift idea made from your scrapbooking supplies. Roll a thin triangular sheet of paper on a toothpick and coat with liquid glass. Allow to dry overnight, then string them together for a bracelet or necklace!
